1. What is your favorite summer food?
I would have to say barbecue with chilled fruit on the side.
2. What is your favorite grilled meal?
grilled I would say babyback ribs but I would prefer a good smoked brisket or pulled pork
3. What do you put on your hotdogs?
either chili and cheese or I eat like a kid ketchup mustard and relish. I don't normally eat hotdogs though and if I am cooking I would throw on so brauts or beef sausage and eat that with just mustard.
3a. Burgers?
again like a kid,m ketchup mustard and pickles. Occasionally I will eat them like grown up with tomatoes and avocados.
4. What do you like to drink on hot days?
depends on what I am doing. If I hiking or kayaking I like water. If I am just setting around I unsweetened ice tea or a Shiner Bock if I feel like drinking.
5. Do you live close to any Mom 'n' Pop type restaurants, or would you really have to go looking to find one?
One of the things I don't like about where I live is the lack of good local restaurants. Most of them are chains and the ones that are not tend be "home cooking" style. I can do better healthier home cooking at home.
5a. If yes, what if your favorite menu item?
We do have some Mexican restaurant not far away that might qualify as "mom and pop" and here is the description of my favorite dish there.
Puerco (pork) Mexicano (hot)
Thinly sliced pork pan seared, then simmered in a molcajete salsa with cabbage and onions. Served with rice and beans.
or this one is really good and usually talk my wife into ordering it so I can eat some hers. It is basically a fajita served on a bed of brown rice with mushrooms. I it is amazing
Pollo Escondido
A grilled chicken breast on a sizzling platter, covered with sautéed onions and mushrooms. Served with rice.
