I suppose Farsi must be easier than Arabic. Legolas Send a noteboard - 26/06/2011 11:18:23 AM
Though oddly enough, the Farsi had at one point progressed to a medium conversational level back in around 2000. I had a one-hour commute to and from work and for three years I studied a language on the commuter train both ways. This essentially gave me two hours per day for three years, and I just picked random languages (usually brushing up on the dead ones, in all honesty). The Farsi was getting decent when I stopped. Of course, that was back in the days of Khatami and the "kinder, gentler" Islamic Republic.

Never did try to learn it, though, and it's not really high up on my list. And yes, the politics do have something to do with that... Turkey is a country I'd love to visit, Iran not so much.
