The timing of your question makes me giggle. Jedi Wolf Sister Send a noteboard - 26/06/2011 04:05:07 AM
Just last night at work one of my co-workers was bragging about how fluent she was in German... She took two years in high school and hasn't used it outside the classroom since. She's retained a smattering at best. Everybody was giving her hell for bragging about it when it's just not worth mentioning, let alone bragging about.

1. How much of a language should you know to tell someone you know it?

Enough to hold a conversation without making a fool of yourself.

2. How much of a language should you know to list on a resume or work bio?

I would imagine you should be near-native, but I'd never really given that much thought before.

3. How much of a language should you know to list on social media?

As with question 1: Enough to hold a conversation without making a fool of yourself.

4. How many languages do you know and what are they?

Just one, I'm typing it.... Poorly.
I lurk a lot...
