I'm in a very similar situation to you. I started wearing glasses when I was about 6 or 7 and my vision just kept getting worse and worse. And I know exactly what you mean... after that long, glasses just feel like another part of you, like clothes or shoes. You indeed feel 'exposed' if you're not wearing them.

I think we have similar experience as far as vision goes, but have you ever had to make do without your glasses for a few days? While it did restrict what I could do, I was kind of impressed at how much I could do based on familiarity of the 'blur' that was in front of me, as well as my other senses. I managed to get through it because I decided not to focus so much on vision (which would eventually give me a headache if I tried to focus too hard) and rely on hearing, position, and touch. It seemed to work alright until I got my glasses back.
