This sort of thing requires energy, and power is a rarity in famine-stricken areas (as is most infrastructure).
This doesn't go much toward helping fight hunger, because globally there's already an excess of food, and this isn't really capable of being used locally. With that said, it could still be incredibly important in the fight against global warming.
