I remembered them more often as a child, and to this day I recall some of those childhood dreams. I dreamed my dog turned into a werewolf and chased me through my grandmother's house. I dreamed my own wedding. I dreamed recurring dreams about a deep, dark, multi-level sewer place beneath my school, where I would wander, lost.

I had dream loops. When something bad would happen in my dreams, such as me being hit with a rock, or me jumping over a barbwire fence and catching my genitals on the barb, I would pause the dream and rewind it, then try that part again, determined that I could change the outcome because this was a dream and I was in control. But I never could. The same thing would happen no matter how I slowed down the action and concentrated on making the rock miss me or making me jump just a little higher. So I would rewind again and again until I woke up.

But as an adult I find myself remembering a dream only once every month or two. Normally I wake without even fading memories of my dreams. When I do remember them, often they feature people I used to know mixed with people I know now, sometimes doing normal things that get weird when a science fiction concept or a bad guy is added. But the specifics fade, sometimes quickly, and I've never tried writing them down.
