To have a young girl give birth to a Down's Syndrome baby? Is there even one instance, in all of recorded history, when this has happened? Down's Syndrome is typically indicitive of pregnancies in women who are older.

Yes, there have been many cases of DS babies born to young mothers - the majority of them, in fact. Among older mothers you see a greater % risk, but fewer cases overall because there are also fewer pregnancies/births.

I see your point, and it does make more sense for Trig to be Sarah's baby. Your phrasing just seems rather insensitive to the many young mothers of DS children.

Well I stand corrected, however it is interesting that the basis for it is more on percentage births (due to more women being pregnant in that age range) rather then percent chance of the condition.

As per your uncomfort...examine that. Do you see a Down's baby (or grown individual) as something to be ashamed of? Or embarassed? I don't. Sure, there is such a thing as being sensitive to an individual (or family's) situation, but there is also such a thing as giving pity where it is not warrented. I've known many individuals and their families who had Down's Syndrome, and pity (in whatever form, whether special consideration or undue sensitivity) was not something that they wanted or were comfortable receiving.
