and just from observations that I've made in my life, I would gather that rather then be in agreement with expectations and all that, the wife has disengaged from her husband, and the husband has disengaged from his wife.
Everything that I've seen and known from successful marriages is that they both make allowances for the other. They both sacrifice for the other. If something is important to one, they both participate...one spouse because its their thing, the other spouse because it's their mate's thing.
But then...I know that my view of marriage is colored by a Christian element.
