It does seem clear to me that the president doesn't want something to be seen on his birth certificate otherwise what reason would he have for not showing it? It baffles me why he has gone as far as to fight in the courts to keep it private.
Perhaps he doesn't want people to see something on it but why do you have the right to see it? It is a standard, official form, what could be on it that the public's interest are served by seeing that isn't on the short version he has provided?
It is one of the many things that baffles me about this whole fuss - that no one claiming he has something on it that he doesn't want them to see hasn't been able to say what it is that they have a right to know about him and is on that birth certificate.
I think for the average person who is not a supporter of Obama, it feels as if the President is hiding something from them. And I think that's disrespectful. People don't have a RIGHT to see our presidential candidates' tax returns, but they show them anyway to alleviate any suspicion of foul play.
I'm not even saying that I would care if Obama were a Muslim or something weird were on his birth certificate, but I think he's being really stupid to not show it, IF he has nothing to hide. If it says something about him being a Muslim (not even sure how that would happen) or something or other that's negative, and he's afraid he'll lose votes bc of that, then he's a real bull shitter since he ran on this platform of optimism and social progress.
It's just natural human curiosity, coupled with the fact that non-Obama supporters feel suspicious because they don't really like Obama. If a friend is hiding something from you, you'll usually let it go. An enemy? Or someone you dislike? I can understand fully why people are concerned and curious.
I think only an ardent Obama supporter could disagree.
