I agree that the incarnation happened to save people from sin. Where you and I differ is that you think of sin by means of a legalistic metaphor, and I do not.
I don't think of it as a legalisitic metaphor. I think of it as something which seperates me from God.
Nicely enough, the Bible supports this thought.
How can I be focused on this world? Well, God cared enough about it to come down and get nailed to a tree; I figure the least I can do is try to keep it tidy.
And lets see...did he come down here for the dirt...or for the people? Oh yes, that's right...He came for the people who lived here. And in doing so, He spoke of salvation from Sin and eternal seperation from God. You will notice that Jesus does not once tell people to be focused on this world. Love one another, yes. Care for one another, yes. Jesus was also very careful to insist that where you store up your treasures, your heart will be. And that this world will eventually be no more.
Its laudable for you to have a mindset for helping out people here physically, however you're missing the point. Its much akin to you buying/preparing a meal for a bunch of people in a homeless shelter...but not caring that the shelter is actually on fire and they are in a very real danger for their lives. Help them with food? Sure, but do so in a way that their (spiritual) lives aren't in danger.
But you still didn't answer my question. Why claim the title of Christian?

You assume we all know, and agree on, what "soul" means.

it wouldn't change much for me, but I'm pretty flexible in my spiritual beliefs
