Just two days ago, while getting dressed, I saw myself sideways in a mirror with no shirt. Where did that gut come from? I knew I had been gaining a little, but I hadn't realized how much. I'm not obese, and the vast majority of my fat appears to be in my stomach (according to my BMI, I only need to lose about 15 pounds to be within the "normal" range), but I decided I need to do something about it.

1. Are you currently following any kind of weight loss/fitness plan?


I go to the gym before work for a short workout. I don't have a lot of time (gym opens at 5, I usually leave for work around 6), but something is better than nothing, right? I'm trying about 30 minutes of cardio, followed by a little anaerobic work, rotating through exercises.

I also need to watch what I eat better. I don't drink a lot of soda, just one or two cans on the weekends, usually, but cutting back on that would help, as well as some of the junk food I tend to snack on at work. Just trading a candy bar for a handful of sugar snap peas or baby carrots would probably do the trick.

I've been considering getting Wii Fit, too. I'd be interested in hearing if it is effective.

2. If so, have you been doing this for a while?


I just started yesterday. And I already missed today (I was up late with a sick child, and slept in). Still, not a great start.

3. How's that working for ya?


Still too early to tell. If my last attempt at a full exercise regimen is any indication, I should start feeling like I have more energy within a few days of regular workouts, and the weight loss will come eventually. I just need to make sure I keep at it long enough to make it a habit.

4. Have any advice? (If you're Tom, you don't need to tell me that I should just run and eat what I want within reason. I apparently have a special kind of chub that is impervious to this plan.:P)


You probably don't want any advice from me. Maybe after I've had success I might be able to help.

5. Would you like to be supported in this endeavor? I've got an excellent guilt-trip.


Guilt isn't much of a motivator for me, but any support would be appreciated.
