They'd rather hire some one on who was the star of their college basketball team, rather than someone who was an mind blowing high school player. The college player has proven himself in a more high-stress, competitive playing field. I can kinda see their viewpoint, particularly in sports that don't have a "Minor league" like baseball...but still. College should be for learning, not playing sports. The sports that want to see players proven should find a way that doesn't interfere with a kid's education, AND gives options to the players who just want to play.
