Here is the original bit we were given
This has to be a tough call for the environmentalists around the world. They're scrambling now to blame this on global warming
Reading that implies that Rush is claiming that that there are environmentalist out there actively claiming that global warming caused it.
Bit left out
have no doubt they're gonna try to claim global warming had something to do with the earthquake and the tsunami. Well of course they will.
But here when we look at what else he said it is clear that he is only claiming that they will blame it on it global warming. Not that much unlike my comment that some church nutter will blame it on gays.
As for the other, saying that he claiming the extra few centimeters of sea level we can blame on global warming was a factor doesn't really go very far in defending him. I think I had more respect for him when is was unclear what he meant.

Republican spin doctor Frank Luntz popularized "climate change" to make global warming appealing.

You need to reread what I said

No, I think you're still missing my point
16/03/2011 11:09:04 PM

No. You don't get to say, "what he said doesn't matter because of how we learned of it".

I think Republicans should stop using "legitimate". I do not think it means what they think it means

there are enough carzies on the left to make things like this easy for Rush
16/03/2011 04:20:47 PM

So it doesn't matter that no one said it as long as he can plausibly claim they did.

well since it is taken out of context it is hard to say where Rush was going with it
16/03/2011 07:19:46 PM

Um... he stated where he was going with it.

It is not just "possible" he's talking about islands affected by global warming; he says it outright

Sorry but I still fail to see how the islands he mention are a sign of what needs to be done

Then you don't understand context and this whole discussion is pointless.
