not yours... the one in the op.
The whole "being a Texan gives me the right to be an ass" thing gets old, however. I weary of those who think they've accomplished something by winning the genetic lottery, trying to convince others that Texans aren't all conceited insufferable SOBs who confuse the ability to be obnoxioius with the obligation to do so and, perhaps most of all, of those who think Austin is the summit of Texas excellence. Austin has its moments, I'll admit, but most of the quintessentially Texas things and places, particularly the ones WORTHY of honor, are found elsewhere. Austin didn't even exist until well after the war for independence was finished, and most of TX (Austinites especially) still wonder WTF it's doing there instead of CA, WA, TN or any of the other places Austin would dearly love to be. It's a town full of wannabes, is, in the vernacular of our native land, all hat and no cattle, so focusing a video about Texas on Austin only works as camp, if at all. It made a fitting residence for that Connecticut Yankee who likes to tell the world he's a Texan, but that's about it. The song didn't work for my lyrically or musically, but those aren't really really my fortè anyway, so I could let that slide; the attitude displayed, while spotlighting a weak sister Texas town like Austin, was laughable to me.
For the record, I did also note that the Valley was almost if not entirely absent from the video, too; it was pretty much Austin, Dallas, desert and the Alamo, which was my main objection: That's the Yankee view of TX, and I get enough of it the other 364 days of the year without spending Indepedence Day dwelling on it.

I find it telling that W was born in CT but has a thick drawl, yet JEB, born in TX, has almost none.
