If you feel guilty it's because you've killed a tramp, not a hobo.

every time I kill a hobo down by the railroad tracks? I know I shouldn't but once in a while it just feels wrong. I know it sounds stupid and all touchy-feely of me but I can't help it. Ah well, I just thought I'd ask.
Tramp souls are much more powerful than hobo souls, and can give indigestion when you eat the heart to gain special vagrant powers. The key way to differentiate tramps and hobos is to offer them money in return for some manual labour. If the person accepts, they are a hobo. The tramp will just try to shiv you and steal the money, so for this reason it is important to be able to defend yourself. I know that won't be a problem for you, MGB, but I'm sharing that advice with the rest of the RAFOlites. Believe me, basic self defence technique is a necessity in all rascally activity.

If he's carrying one of those little kerchief wrapped bundles on a stick, then yes.
