Pittsburgh isn't a large market? That matters since the Pack instituted drafts and profit sharing?

Way to judge the history of the league based on one subset of that history. Green Bay has more NFL championships than any other team with 13.(Second on that list? The Chicago Bears with 9) That sure puts them in the running for the name "Titletown" wouldn't you say?
Of course, a bunch of them are ancient history. So I'll give you this stat: The Packers are the current Super Bowl Champions. You're gonna be hearing us talk, and not because of the past, but because of the present. No one has more bragging rights than the Packers right now.
Also, the NFC Championship game featured two NFC North teams. Kind of a vindication of the conference, wouldn't you say? (As if it needed it, boasting the two most decorated programs in NFL history.)
I can see why you would hate both teams though. Steelers, the most championships of the Super Bowl era, Packers, the most of all time. And they don't even have the good taste to be from big markets, or teams constructed mostly in free agency. Just a couple of blue collar, draft and develop teams.

Yeah, because as a Denver fan I don't hear about (and live with) network refusal to air Broncos games until/unless they have double digit wins. I actually kinda like the pre-Lombardi Packers teams, but when Packers fans want to crow about how great they are, do they point to Curly Lambeau, Arnie Herber (perhaps the first "bombing" QB) or Don Hutson (a man who's forgotten more about receiving than most players will ever know; legend has it he used to spend hours practicing BAD passes)? No, they point to Lombardis "winning is the only thing and frostbite is for losers" philosophy. Which is almost comical since that's seemingly the last time Green Bay had a running game worthy of the name; they passed 75% of the time last night and Packers Sweeps were few to be found (the few times they did run they usually LOST yardage).
So if you want to toast the maverick indefatigable '20s and '30s darkhorses I'll drink to that; that's about the only time GB was the kind of team I liked instead of being a three yards and a cloud of dust (by air or ground it amounts to the same thing) team that rode amazing defenses to titles by any legal means necessary. Since Lombardi you've mostly been graceless winners who sneered at defeated opponents when you were winners at all. When we're counting titles though we should bear in mind that 3 of them are akin to the Yankees crowning themselves #1 after winning the ALCS; I still think my Oilers would've beaten you in '61, but we'll never know. It does put things in perspective though when you consider the Pack has so many titles in part for the same reason Chicago does: Because they've had 40 more years win them than most other teams. In 1960 they were all ancient history, and in 1996 they were again, but right now ya'll are on top, and I'm not taking anything away from that. It's just a little annoying to hear Packers fans making it sound like the NFL plays Lombardiball even when they don't win it all, and downright nauseating to see them yet again prancing around like one Super Bowl win means they invented the game. String together as many championships as you managed in the '60s (even if three of them were never contested by any of the AFL teams) and that level of arrogance might be justified. Right now you're the best team in the League by virtue of proving it on the field, but you're not the greatest thing since sliced bread.
