Then that's equally dangerous and reprehensible and more reason to loathe the DLC and DCCC. Joel Send a noteboard - 20/01/2011 09:49:08 PM
I will be happy when you admit that if you admit that political rhetoric from the left was just as likely to have inspired the violence as political rhetoric on the right and all of this was just posturing to make a political point.

By the way saying you also condemn rhetoric on the left while you continue to only attack those on the right for it is a meaningless statement.

Heaven knows I do. I can't really object to using "target" because banning words with only vague or general martial as well as innocuous meanings would make it difficult to identify whom you want to defeat POLITICALLY. Even "winning" and "losing" could fall into that category and become unacceptable election terms, which would obviously be ridiculous. I don't object to using "target" and neither did Giffords; I DO share her objections to combining it with crosshairs, and that goes for bullseyes, too (the latter are used for many things not involving guns but I still consider its violent connotations too great). Dem leaders are spouting violent rhetoric right along with Republicans and both need to stop before they inspire more bloodshed. See how easy it is to say your end of the political spectrum doing it doing it doesn't let mine off the hook? Would you prefer I closed my ears and said, "lalala, all your fault, all your fault... " while ignoring the facts, or is that only OK for Republicans?

Let me be clarify something else I've said but you ignore: It's acceptable, if not necessarily laudable, to be confrontational and argumentitive; it is NOT acceptable to invoke violent hateful imagery toward that end, BECAUSE some nut might take you literally. That and the prospect of law enforcement investigating whether I'M one of those dangerously violent nuts are the reasons I try very hard not to indulge violent rhetoric even when carried away, and think I do a pretty good job, though I don't presume to claim perfection. I have a rather conservative HS teacher and Vice Principal to thank for pointing out, based on real world examples, how dangerous that can be, and the lesson stuck. I don't indulge hatred regardless; that is anathema to everything I believe and while several recent Republican leaders have tested my commitment there, I managed to oppose virtually all their policies without hating them; they're fallible human beings like me and, like me, still one of Gods creatures. It's all fun and games until 19 people get shot, but afterward if not before it's time to banish the violent hateful imagery from our rhetoric.
