It was ...
Roasted marinated pork - 1$ for marinade and 4$ for 1.20 pounds of pork.
That sounds very nice.
roasted carrots and turnips - 50c for the bunch of carrots and the single turnip.
and ... String beans stir fried with soy sauce and spices. - 4$
String beans I can happily leave but the rest of it sounds delicious.
I think she miss charged me for the carrots, I got a bunch of carrots, I mean like, 8 smallish carrots and it only costs 60¢ to be exact. If carrots are that cheap I'm gonna buy them more often. Roasted carrots rule!
Carrots are dirt cheap, as are turnips. Roasted carrot and a little bit of cumin is awesome. Try roasting them in a little balsamic vinegar and oil as well, it's great.
The best part of course, no left overs. Everyone had their chunk of pork and three vegetables side. I love cooking wins like that.
I like just enough leftovers to make one lunch for me in work, and that's it. Maybe enough to make two lunches but only if I can freeze one. I hate eating the same thing for days on end. Leftover curry and chili and boeuf bourguignon and so on are great though and I usually make at least double portions so there's some for the freezer. Makes life much easier when you work long hours.
The turnip wasn't a big hit though. I thought it was ok, my one roommate thought it was bleh but went well with the pork, my other roommate liked it a lot though.
Mmmmmmm, turnip. Mashed with loads of salt and black pepper. Dribble. in fact, that's what I'm having for dinner.

How is no leftovers a good thing?

Well, leftovers means you have less taste for the money, of course.

The existence of turnip is a villainous plot to inflict torture on my good self *NM*
