at least, that's how the BBC always reported on his campaign. "ultra right wing group pim's list". i also recall many european politicians saying not to give in to the right wing by voting for someone other than fortuyn. i'm not trying to stir the left/right debate, i am just looking for clarification.
That those on the left thought they could diabolize Fortuyn and scare people about what would happen if he came to power, without that rhetoric leading to violence. And of course it's not as if there was a wave of anti-right-wingers violence, but one disturbed guy thinking "Fortuyn is a threat to the nation" was all it took.
