It shows that he had some left leanings but nowhere does it blame people on the left or the heightened rhetoric created by far left journalist like the Daily Kos or the NYT. Reporting that he is a liberal (after the liberal media spent the weekend blaming Fox News and talk radio) really isn't the same as claiming Sarah Palin was involved. Come on Joel even you should be able to see that.
Even in the US, surely calling Mein Kampf "left" is a bit much.
You can't put him anywhere in the ordinary political spectrum from those books listed as his favourites, what with them being all over the place, and the ramblings quoted don't help with making him seem coherent. What those books and ramblings DO indicate, though, is that for all his incoherence he does seem to have cared quite a bit about politics - like I said, there most likely is some sort of connection, but it's not the simple straightforward kind.
