I saw that and thought about going with it, but wanted to keep to the original reply of 8% of victims being white. I would consider the 7% of perpetrators more accurate, though, when comparing NYC to Norway.
There is also the climate factor to consider: namely, the hot summers in which murder rates exceed those in the winter. Last I knew, Norway didn't get too warm at any time of year.
I agree whole-heartedly that it's not a gun issue, but one of the socio-economic conditions experienced by said minority urban-dwellers.
