Most of them can be opened with a small flathead screwdriver

Usually the screwdriver is to small at the neck and you have to give it a little tap with your palm to get it in. I don't know about that particular lock but I have seen two different types.
The most common you turn. Feel around until you feel the lock mechanism and turn screwdriver and the knob at the same time. The lock mechanism is just a metal rod with the last 1/4 inch sawed flat and you use screwdriver to pressed up against it to turn it. If you have never done it before you may need to poke around a bit to get it right.
The less common kind is a pop lock and you just press straight in to get to unlock.
If you can't get it to open that way then slip a credit card or thin strip a of something stiff in through the door just over the lock. Then work it down and back towards you to press the lath back up inside.
When you are done thin about turning the knob around so the screws are on the outside and you can just remove the knob. If the screws are already on the outside the call a handyman and give him all of your tools as a bonus for coming out on a holiday.

Anyone here know how to pick a Kwikset Delta series privacy lock (the kind with a pinhole)?
