I was writing an essay for class and I got wondering: "What is the meaning of life?"

The topic was something like "What things have an influence on our perception of right and wrong?" It wasn't an important essay by any means, I just scribbled a little less than two full pages.
But, I came to the conclusion that moral is the by-product of a cluster of natural mechanism that we call evolution. Evolution made us intelligent enough that we came to the conclusion "moral is handy" and gave us the emotions to egg us on. As good a conclusion as was needed.
So, what is the meaning of life? At least religion gives some people a destination, an aspiration, an objective and a task. Gives your life a meaning. But we don't have any of those things, do we? Tasks or objectives. When there aren't any gods..And nature doesn't care, it's mindless in the sense that it doesn't have a mind. No brains and no authority. We're just imperfect and alone in the world. The only reason we continue to exist is that our surroundings make it impossible for us to do ourselves in. It would be rude to our friends, say.
I dislike it when people come up with emotional slush like "we should do the best we can in life" or "love". Why should we do the best we can? What does it do for us?
I feel like a horrible pessimist. But I enjoy life, I like a lot of things and I have no intention of ever quitting those. Philosophical ponderings don't affect my personal life, they're too gigantic for that.
Answer the question should it some way please you. What is the meaning of life. Your personal opinion or some great philosophical thought.

If I had to summarize my beliefs to the point of absurdity: to have a unique experience.
