In the music context, it could be suggesting that they've plagiarised bits and pieces from various sources and shoved them all together with no great effort to blend them. Maybe?
but i just wasn't sure. a friend of mine says he's seen it used in even more random ways though he can't remember the specific instance. it's been bothering me for a while now.
