Even by non-scientific newspaper standards, the summing up of five arguments for each side was rather sad. It wasn't the fact that he listed arguments for creationism that was sad, as you seem to think. It was the way he just listed five strongly simplified arguments for each side without doing any effort at all to reconcile the contradictions even between arguments on the same side, or without pointing out that the two sides are hardly monolithic.
