Bureacracy vs. ideology Aeryn Send a noteboard - 03/11/2010 07:00:04 PM
Really?

I'm happy they passed the health care reform, what I'm not happy about is how they treated the abortion issue. (Abortion isn't just abortion, it's also care for miscarriages. Or removing a dead fetus, which is actually where most of the pictures of "dead babies" come from. If it's got black spots or is wrinkled, it died in the womb.) As well as general family-friendly policies.

That one of the abortion procedures is to put a highly saline solution into the placenta. That kills the baby (turning it black spotted/wrinkled) and that is what you're seeing in those pictures. And contrary to your belief....abortion is abortion. Removing fetal tissue due to a misscariage isn't abortion. Its not considered one either per the law or medical practice. Why? Because there is no heartbeat. The presence of a heartbeat (typically denoting life, except in this case) puts the procedure into another catagory.

Something that you have absolutely no right to force me to pay for.

~Jeordam

Let's not bring emotions and beliefs into this. I know where you stand, I won't change your mind nor you mine. Just facts.

Why would saline solution turn the tissue black? That's decomposition.

You say: "Removing fetal tissue due to a misscariage isn't abortion. Its not considered one either per the law or medical practice." But it is considered one per health insurance regulations. Or Medicaid coverage. It's coded as D&C - it doesn't matter if there's a heartbeat or not.
