Of course he will. Sareitha Sedai Send a noteboard - 29/10/2010 05:37:08 PM
I know my grandmother gets all butt-hurt when I tell her that no, I really don't need you to my laundry. no really, I'm perfectly capable. JUST LEAVE ME ALLOOOOONE AAAAAAHHHHH

of course, I'm RUDE and UNGRATEFUL for functioning in my own ;)

Point is, that his dad will likely take it personally, or as "I don't want to be around you".

I am assuming this while assuming his roommate is competent in judging the potential reactions of his father. I suppose it's perfectly possible his roommate is just misjudging his father.

Anytime you stop someone from doing something they want to be doing, they are going to be offended. That doesn't make the act of doing so offensive. Parents and grandparents have a reasonable expectation of wanting to be caretaking of their "children" no matter how old they are. Both parties need to be understanding and accepting of that to a reasonable degree, as well as accepting of appropriate boundaries set by the other party, for the relationship to work.
