Or something.
what your standing was on wotmania doesn't matter any more.
I disagree. I consider each person's perception as a RAFOnaut to be a continuation of their wotmania history. If you spent 8 to 10 years at wotmania and you've now been visiting RAFO for over a year, people will judge you for the 9 to 11 years of content you've contributed and relationships you've been a part of. Not just the previous one year. You can add onto your history from the previous site, but not erase it. RAFO didn't give everyone a fresh slate in which all preconceived notions about them were abandoned. Not to say people can't be forgiven for who they were, have their levels or respect rise or fall, but that could be true of a person's 8th year at wotmania compared to their 5th as much as it would their first year at RAFO compared to their last at wotmania.
So to say that who you were at wotmania doesn't matter or is invalidated by RAFO's existence is false. If someone who was a recognized veteran of wotmania were to post on RAFO for the first time tomorrow, we would all embrace them as who we knew them to be.
'Cos, well, I'm kind of a a lot of the time now. I'm not sure why, but I know I choose my words less carefully and am less inclined to give people the benefit. Maybe too much of the happy warrior, been in enough online arguments they've become an end in themselves. Maybe the stuff that went down the last year of wotmania pissed me off more than I'm willing to admit even to myself.
I know if it were as simple as just creating a chat I wouldn't be worried about it. There's a big part of me that wouldn't mind going back to '05; my uncle and four more of my dogs were still alive. That ain't how life works though, and it may be time we all came to terms with the fact that while we may have left the problems unique to wotmania, we brought those of our own making with us to RAFO.
For the record and what it's worth, I agree with both of you to some extent. RAFO allowed the opportunity to shake up the hierarchy a bit; old Admins left or became users, and new Admins took their place, so there was more give and take and a lot more chances to try new things since we were writing a new playbook. On the other hand, like you say, people aren't just going to forget years of personal interaction at wotmania, hence there were a few minor instances of people comparing length (of membership, geez! )

I've already had several days like that. Yet people keep insisting RAFO is better without chat. *NM*

When chat used to be down for long stretches, everyone would just pile into AIM chat.

Which they could easily do with Skype and get voice, yet no one does.

The group that is popularized as being a part of that is not enticing to long standing wotmaniacs. *NM*

Then that, again, seems a problem that coding can't solve.

I don't think most want to download another program when they had it so easy before.

Honestly, I think the "one time event" is the biggest problem.

I disagree. I don't think enough people think it worth the effort to deal with Skype.

You have a faulty memory. Chat was incredibly active as late as 2007.

I probably didn't phrase that right. Maybe an -er after long and an "in good" before standing.

Also "as long as me" doesn't really factor, because I wasn't using myself to set the bar.
