The idea of an unmoderated chat with those I understand to be regulars in your Skype chat doesn't appeal to me at all. By the way, my post wasn't meant as a complaint, but you were correct about me being wistful. I miss the old days in chat.
However, your tone in this post implies that I'm not willing to make any effort. I would correct that to I'm not willing to make an effort for what's currently out there.

For one thing, that's why there's more than one chat; the Creator can't boot or ban anyone they like, and make other people "Masters" to do the same things. Creators can also edit everyones comments, so it's important to pick a good one.
As for the other, same deal; there's a perfectly good chat out there, even if you have to start it yourself. You can add or not add anyone you like, and it stays there as a "conversation" so every time you return it updates what everyone said. Or you can turn off your notifications for that conversation, close it, and be done till you want to return. Who shows up, and who you call, is entirely up to you and them. Believe me, I know. If no one's interested, no one's interested, and that's that, and I still don't expect that to change if RAFO gets its own chat, but, like I say, prove me wrong.

I've already had several days like that. Yet people keep insisting RAFO is better without chat. *NM*

When chat used to be down for long stretches, everyone would just pile into AIM chat.

Which they could easily do with Skype and get voice, yet no one does.

The group that is popularized as being a part of that is not enticing to long standing wotmaniacs. *NM*

Then that, again, seems a problem that coding can't solve.

I don't think most want to download another program when they had it so easy before.

Honestly, I think the "one time event" is the biggest problem.

I disagree. I don't think enough people think it worth the effort to deal with Skype.

You have a faulty memory. Chat was incredibly active as late as 2007.

Again, that's people, and not/having Chat won't change that.

I probably didn't phrase that right. Maybe an -er after long and an "in good" before standing.

Also "as long as me" doesn't really factor, because I wasn't using myself to set the bar.

Jonte is right. The judges are numerous. Each with their own motivations and interests. *NM*
