It is possible that she has private disability insurance but you would need to ask her and then check with the provider. Actually you should probably talk to all of her insurance providers regardless. Every state is different so unless someone here is an expert on Florida insurance and worker compensation laws I would want to talk to someone who was.
If there was any negligence involved or even if there wasn't it may make sense to talk to a lawyer.
Also look into any credit cards or other forms of debt she may have. She may have disability insurance on some of them that will cover here bills until she is released. I had it and didn't even know it. They should at least be willing to work with her until she is able to get back to work. Maybe let her skip a payment or make an interest only payment.
