Apparently not synonyms, but RA is the only example they give of IJD, plus they say it is auto-immune. No other example comes to mind. *shrug*
Indeed. Probably because it's the only one people have heard of. Other forms might have overly-complicated names.

My guess is that the terminology is used to group syndromes that look like RA but don't quite follow it exactly. I had never heard of it before.
