Is it waking and getting up that's so hard that you lose a lot of time or what?
Waking up is very difficult for me, because I've let myself think that it's ok to not be there "on time." I don't have a set time though, so Aeryn's situation might be significantly different. But anyway, once I let myself get away with hitting snooze repeatedly, it becomes something that's difficult to unlearn. And it's occasionally upsetting.
With friends and things in the evening, I almost NEVER get out of work on time, so I'm perpetually apologizing for being late. It's not at all out of spite or dismissal - it's some sort of stupid job loyalty that messes me up when I should just say "fuck it, I'm leaving now." But again, once it starts happening, it's harder to put a stop to it.
I don't have a set time either, and in a way, it's good that I stay late - sometimes my boss calls into the office at 8pm and wants something done. I've almost made peace with it, and then I had the time creep - my default "in" time went from 9:30 to 9:40 to 9:50 to 10:20 and that's unacceptable. So now I'm going to bed at 10pm and starting to wake up at 6:30am, and back up to 9:20am. (My commute is just 1/2hour)
Mornings are insanely difficult.
I read an article somewhere that people who are chronically late have a fundamentally different relationship to time.

Any other chronically late people? Let's form a support group.

Hm. I have always been chronically 5-10 minutes late but my situation was similar. *edit*

You average getting to work more than an hour late?

I do agree with this. I have problems with tardiness, but on the scale of 5 minutes.
