*shrug* Old news, really. Joel Send a noteboard - 02/09/2010 02:50:00 PM
This cannot be allowed to contine...

If anyone ever bothered looking at what our beloved "PATRIOT" Act actually says one of the federal powers it asserts is to go into people homes, with or without their knowledge or presence, install surveillance equipment (primarily on computers) and monitor away on "suspicion of being suspicious. " And if by some freak stroke of luck you actually manage to FIND OUT they're doing it, the same law that claims this as a federal power also makes it illegal for you to tell anyone.

For that matter, most new cars these days have GPS installed, whether or not the owner can access or is even aware of it; frankly, I've never understood why people refuse to tolerate some powers in governments but are perfectly fine allowing them for powerful private citizens accountable to none. You have a lot more influence on you government than you do Microsoft, more than most people have on their own employers, so why is the most accountable one the least trustworthy? Note how the dissenting Justices arguments underscore mine nicely. ;)
