I think dropping the corporate tax rate by about 10% and cutting out the penalty that pass-through entities pay in the form of self-employment taxes (i.e., double what others pay for social security, etc. ) is a good start.
What we should be doing is giving HUGE payroll tax breaks. Anything else will just go into the coffers like always and not into the market, most definitely not into the workforce.
Our nation can only grow if our production base is growing. The best way to quickly grow our production base is to make it easier and cheaper for businesses to operate in the United States. There may be short-term deficits run, but if we slash and burn the entitlement programs at the same time, the combination of economic growth and lower spending will start to pay off.
I doubt either party is going to be slashing and burning Social Security or Medicaid/Medicare anytime soon, I WISH that was the case. But as long as both Republican and Democrats remain more concerned about getting elected then facing up to reality - entitlements are not going to get cut or reformed anytime soon.
A quote regarding the Soviet economy that can be applied to the Obama Administration.
