His top life goal is being a billionaire, not playing basketball.
Not only the TV special. The whole thing. The last few seasons of sideshows in Cleveland with his entourage. The fact that he would go into a pact of a sort with Wade and Bosh. The whole thing seems childish. This whole thing was planned years ago and they played it out, like a bunch of tools. I lost respect for all three. Gilbert was right to be pissed off and to show that he's not afraid to call to task stars in the NBA.
It sounded whiny and childish. Like he's out of things to say, so he's like "well the people in Cleveland are poop heads and I don't like the smell of poop and I've never liked the smell of poop so I'm leaving".
The whole TV special was a bit much, agreed, but he's not wrong when he says Cleveland fans were spoiled, either. And Gilbert's letter was utterly beyond the pale - if I were an NBA player, I sure as hell wouldn't want someone capable of that sort of stunt as my boss.

I think his comments about Akron and Cleveland make a certain amount of sense. Everyone living in some smaller city in the vicinity of a bigger one can sympathize, I would think - the people from the big city are seen as arrogant about their city. Whether it was smart to go and say that in public, that's another question...
