To me, getting a little public outrage going on something like this is a good thing, in part, the old 'you never appreciate something until you lose it' adage applies. People start thinking about it and getting a bit ticked, well, some may decide to go visit, give the local economy a little boost, make their opinion on the casino clear at the same time. I think that's fair play, if they still want it, well, their city, not mine.
We don't actually get to vote. The PA gaming board does.
There are lots of debates/hearings/meetings going on, in addition to letter/email writing campaigns to state reps. There are also several billboards put up by No Casino Gettysburg up on the roads into town to draw attention to the issue for vistors.
When the same people tried to get a casino several years ago (building a new location on the other side of town) it was defeated. There was international outcry against it then and I think that was helpful.
