My family there is from India tho. And there are tons of brown people in Texas And in Canada!
And I hear you on the everyone knowing everyone thing...it's true! Being a 24 year old, young Indian girl, you gotta be careful about who sees you with who, especially a guy who is not Indian!
You're not dating a white guy by chance, are you? That would make my situation much easier if I knew there were other couples out there like us!

I hope you two aren't related Technically speaking, her family doesn't know about us. She is always worried about being in public together because, according to her, every single Pakistani knows someone who knows your family!

I totally am....lol. Ive been in a relationship with a Romanian guy for the past four years, and brought it up with my parents last year because we want to get married. Drama, drama, drama....it's still not resolved!
I know what must be going through. So you know what I mean when I say you have really made me happy Life is so much better when other people share the same pain lol
It does feel better knowing someone else is in the same situation! I hope everything works out for the best with you and your girlfriend. I really know that it can be awfully shitty sometimes. Indian/Pakistani people are over-concerned with too many things, lol. They need to just lighten up!
I take it your girlfriend is Muslim? I guess that adds the extra dimension of religion into your situation. I'm Christian, as is my boyfriend, but my parents are still the same old-fashioned types who want their kids to be with Indian people of the parents' choosing. Gah! It's really shitty...
Yes my girlfriend is Muslim. That's really interesting that you are Christian. I have never heard of Indian/Pakistani people converting. I wish that was my situation. 90% of my stress is from religion. I had to convert to be with her and I'm finding it to be strange and uncomfortable. And I know what you mean about your parents. Her mom is constantly trying to get her engaged to some doctor!
There is a large Christian population in both India and Pakistan. My family converted about 5 or 6 generations ago. There is a large Christian majority in South India, and I believe that goes back hundreds of years.
I have cousins like me, born and brought up in Canada, who ended up marrying Indian people but from different religions. One married someone who is Hindu, and two married people who are Sikh. No one ended up converting one way or the other, but there was still drama before the weddings happened.
I think South-Asians just like drama

Yeah, it would be silly to waste your time on Devanagari when you need to learn the Arabic alphabet.
