Yah, guys may talk differently around women in general, but I think she has a better idea of the guys she was talking to than you do. To totally just write off what she was saying about people who don't even share the same nationality as you is rather rude and inconsiderate. I'd no more presume what your friends' wives think on a daily basis.

and in general, referring to a woman you don't really know as "darlin' " in that context is pretty damned dismissive of their opinion.
