If you're interested in knowing someone else's thought process, I picked a NOOK for a few reasons:
1) I can store more books thanks to the memory card capabilities. My #1 biggest reason for getting an eReader is to reduce the number of books I carry around with me when I move, therefore storage was a big plus.
2) I do not like the keyboard on the Kindle.
3) I like the in-store service for the NOOK. I don't live near a Barnes and Noble, but it's still a lot easier for me to drive the hour to Topeka than to deal with shipping my eReader around for service.
4) ePub capability. This was also a big selling point for me, as one of the downsides the NOOK had for me was that barnes and noble has a lot fewer textbooks available than amazon does. I'm hoping I can find most of them in ePub format somewhere. As the first link discusses, ePub format also opens your reader up to library eBooks, and I also did not want to miss out on research articles because I had a kindle and couldn't do ePub. Google Books also opens up the availability even FURTHER.
