I really love my nook. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do.

This is the response of everyone I've ever known to buy a dedicated e-reader. Every time I've gotten in an argument with someone about these devices, I ask "do you have one?" And I always get back, "well, no, but I've tried one, and it couldn't possibly replace the smell of stale glue!"
They take some time to get used to, but readers are teh bestest.
Now, if they'd just publish EVERYTHING in eFormat on day one....
As I say, that's definitely coming. Amazon already sells about 20% more ebooks than hardcover books, and the Kindle is (supposedly) one of their bestselling products. ebooks are absolutely here to stay, and it's just a matter of time before publishing companies recognize and fully embrace them. They're just cranky because they don't want to stop charging eight dollars for a book.
I've worked out the one feature that will make an Ebook reader appealing.

+1. That's the only way it could have a usability advantage over books. *NM*

Just make sure it floats as well. Fishing it from the bottom of the lake would be a challenge. *NM*

I was once completely against the notion of e-readers. I like the feel of books

you could even attach a 3rd one, put a hole in it and attach some string and a band to it

I'll just put a beacon in the 3rd bag so the coast guard could locate my phone. *NM*
