I applaud efforts to support minorities, but I have to question quotas and affirmative action policies.

I work in healthcare and getting into medical school as a white male was a nightmare. Women now constitute close to 60% of all medical school classes. The remaining 40-45% of males are largely composed of Asians, Indians, a sprinkling of foreign students, a few Latinos, and a few African-Americans. What you don't see too many of, at least in California is white males. I can vouch from personal experience that you pretty much need a 4.0 and top 90% MCAT scores to get in a California medical school as a white male.

There seems to almost be a negative affirmative action against the white male. I can also say that in healthcare many women are heavily favored in job applications over males.

I still don't understand why Asians are considered a minority, but I will let that slide as things are complicated.
