Had a meeting today. Amy. Me. Our lawyers.
Even the lawyers said, "Wow, that really went very well." Apparently these things can get ugly.
Upshot is - I'm stuck paying some child support (that was expected) and will have to figure out how much equity in my house I have to pay out to the woman (also expected).
However, there will be no 'moving the little one to another province' nor will there be any 'Amy gets custody, care and control or anything else'. The 50/50 split has been formalized with a bit better schedule and Amy even lined up some daycare so she can actually look for work.
Basically, I got everything I asked for. Amy hasn't entirely given up on the whole 'I want to leave with Melly' thing but I think she's realized that she cannot force it legally, cannot browbeat me and cannot bribe me. She is still trying to get me to at least consider it and I simply told her, "I'm sorry, but I have no interest in fighting about this. There is no common ground, no real compromise possible or I'd look at it. I'm sorry, but this is just how it's going to have to be - there really isn't anything to discuss."
She didn't like it, but she accepted it. At least now all the tension is over - for the moment anyway.

May God stand between you and harm in all the empty places you must walk.

I don't know the details, but it sounds like that's how it works in England.
