I haven't been around for a while, and now I've reached that stage where it feels like I can only look and not touch, so I guess I'll just present a simple, shallow little survey here, and hopefully start posting more soon.
Anyway, they're all supposed to be universally beloved, but certain traditions just aren't fun at all for some of us... someone with Crohn's disease or even just a strong sense of moderation isn't going to derive much pleasure from Thanksgiving, for example.
I don't like the Fourth. Going to see a fireworks display is one thing, but when your crazy redneck neighbors set explosives off all week (beginning at eight in the morning) and don't even create pretty lights with them - well, it's stupid. Also, my puppy has never been more petrified.

I hate pretty much all holidays that aren't real ones. Like St. Patty's Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc.
2. How have you been?
Um, alright, I guess. And you?
3. Would you ever move (permanently) to a place you had never seen or visited before?
Honestly, I don't think I'd ever move anywhere permanently. I'd always be trying to go somewhere else, even if it's just for a little while. So I'm probably not the best person to ask this question
4. How do you feel about lapsed friendships - something that can always be revived, or a sign that loyalty is missing? If the latter, how long before you call it quits on the relationship?
I don't really know what you mean by that. I have lots of friends I haven't talked to in a while, but usually I'm able to pick up where we left off. I think it's not a bad thing, if that's what you mean.
5. Can exes ever really be friends?
Probably not.
6. What is your favorite summer food?
Ice cream. Duh.
7. Do you know how to drive a manual car? What country are you from?
Yup, learned to drive in India.
8. What's the scariest driving experience you've ever had?
Hmm, that's a tough one. Nothing much scares me anymore on the road, though in the US I've had a few close encounters with wildlife at high speed which were probably the scariest moments for me, behind the wheel.
Oh, and in some backwoods in northern India, the roads on the hills can be pretty shoddy, with falling rock and so forth, but thankfully nothing happened.
9. What's the longest (most driving hours per day) road trip you've ever done?
Well, I used to be a cabbie of sorts in India and I worked some crazy hours then, but if you're talking about an actual trip...
I once drove from Nashville to Boston in about a day (19 hours), due to some scheduling craziness/flight availability or other, which is probably the most per day I've done.
In India I once did Bombay to Lahore by car in about 3 days, but that was a while ago, before 9/11 and all that.
Once drove Cairo to Abu Simbel in about a week - don't think this is really possible anymore.
And some other weird ones.
10. Do you have any books or pieces of literature you reread yearly (or according to some other sort of schedule)? What are they?
No, none.
Other news with me - am planning to set out for my new home in WA, bright and early Tuesday morning. It will be a long drive, and I don't entirely know where I'll end up. I hope it will be nice.
That's part of the fun - I'm sure it will be fine. Hopefully you'll end up in the right place, though. You do have directions, right?
