Probably the right ruling. Dannymac Send a noteboard - 29/06/2010 08:30:02 PM
You'd think the small government people would be counting this one as a loss, or at least the folks who stress state and local rights. Apparently we're all about the National Government trumping the local if we agree with the ruling?

Still, it always makes me curious. Does the right to bear arms automatically apply to all forms of armaments? Like, if I could build a nuke, would I be permitted to? Probably not, but wouldn't it be covered under the broader readings of the amendment? I'm being intentionally hyperbolic with that example.

Oh well. The main discussion was apparently over whether National Law trumps State or Local and the short sightedness of the Libs on the court didn't get in their own way for once. It's depressing to know that if the debate of National Authority over state and local authority had been clothed in the issue of abortion rights, the vote would probably have gone the other way along the same political lines.
