These days I typically just say, "Fox. " Joel Send a noteboard - 27/05/2010 03:48:40 PM
Kerry got crap for saying he voted for the bill before he voted against it and for saying if you wanted to know what kind of leader he would be ask the people he served with knowing that many of them opposed him.

I hate to speak out against your faith but it was Fox was hardly alone in not being critical of the war before it began. They did have a number of anchors who supported finishing and who supported the surge when those on the left were saying we should cut and run and screaming that the surge was never work. Funny how much criticism Fox gets for right about and how much chest thumping the left continues to do about being wrong.

Indeed, as I noted above, Kerry got crap for saying he voted for the bill before he voted against it, because he only changed his vote when Republicans started tacking on a whole bunch of pork that didn't help the troops at all. No one wanted to hear it in '04, least of all Faux, so I don't know why they suddenly care now. Apart from partisan bias, of course.

... that people would quit with the mock-names, like "Faux News". It always, 100% of the time, immediately gives me the sense that the writer has no credibility. If you want to make a point, or write persuasively for one side or another of a given debate, please, for the love of god, just call them Fox News. That's their name. And no, as a news writer myself, I don't like how they do things either.

Because I realize the derisive term is inflammatory and thus counterproductive. This time they reminded me why I used to use it exclusively. I will NOT call them "news" because I consider that defamation of journalism. They're an international editorial corporation that occasionally, incidentally, reports some actual news more to salvage some of THEIR credibility than for any other reason. And usually has to spin even that. They're the GOPs answer to Pravda, and while they may give the weather every day, that doesn't make them a "news source. "
