I said that the National Debt went up by that amount under Bush's watch, during which time the United States got involved in two major military campaigns, while simultaneously lowering taxes. The whole chunk cannot be accounted for by military spending, you are correct. But it is a pretty darn large slice of the pie. Numbers are from a Wikipedia article on the National Debt, which in turn got THEIR numbers from the Treasury office.
