if you really think that they deserve their spot on the ballot (or ballet 
) then by all means give them some of your money and/or your time. just realize that it's incredibly difficult to establish a national party from the bottom up, and also that there are at least 5 states in which they will probably not make the ballot as "the tea party" but will have to either run as a D or R, or not make the ballot at all.
so basically, when you give to their candidates, you are most likely giving directly to their candidates and not to a party structure like you seem to be hinting at. giving directly to candidates can be tricky, because your name will go into an FEC report and you will forever get calls from sympathetic groups hoping your donation was not a one-off thing
