As they gain ground in multiple states to the point where they may actually be a viable third party in the next Presidential election, I find myself torn. I understand that if the Tea Party gets the requisite votes (to be fair, I have only heard of them actively pursuing them in some regions) to appear on the Ballet, there is a real chance that they could siphon some votes away from the GOP, which would basically put Obama easily in the White House again.
I have a little extra money this year that I was considering donating to the political process. It won't dent the budgets of the Dems or the GOP, but I'm guessing the Tea Party can use every cent it gets.
If I donate money to the Tea Party, but vote Democratic, am I simply being creative in how I vote with my pocketbook, or am I cynically abusing the two party system?

See, I don't get the whole "siphoning off votes" thing. Its like, the pussy thing to do. I don't understand how its any better than not voting for something. You don't want or think any of the candidates should win, so you decide to vote for a party that has no shot to win, knowing exactly that basically what you're doing is hurting one main party and helping the other main party. So either, help the one party and vote for them outright, or just don't vote. I mean, that is the truest way to do it, not voting.
I mean, I simply can't wrap my mind around how voting for someone with no chance just so you don't have to vote for the two big parties makes teh slightest bit of sense, other than in "I'm a giant pussy" world. Can anyone explain?
Your mom. That's right. The cat is out of the bag. Your mom.
