But why does leaving now make him a bitter bastard? What could have happened in 6-12 months? I am lost.
Been neglecting my posts.
It was a small and spiteful thing typical of the man. And remember I lived in Fife for 20+ years with Gordon Brown on my doorstep. Basically he knew that the conservatives and liberals had no deal done yet, but that he not only didn't have one but was unlikely to get one (despite the Lib Dems 2faced dealing). Therefore he decided, whilst his party was still negotiating, to quit. This forces the Conservatives to immediately form a minority government, and changes the face of negotiations with the Lib Dems, after all David is now standing at No.10 without any agreement in place and with no votes yet from the con and lib parties.
The last minute negotiations and powerplay involved in that had who knows what effect. But it's not unreasonable to suspect that someone gave away more than they wanted to, and 6montsh from now it will come back and haunt them. If Brown truly believed in doing what was right for the country, he should have waited until the deal was done, then walked.
Damn *NM*

His sister didn't make it, though. At least there's only one Rees-Mogg in Westminster? *NM*

In a mild British way this is the most unexpected political alliance since the Nazi-Soviet Pact.

On a vaguely related note - how long has it been since a child was born in Downing Street No. 10? *NM*
