Although I doubt that they are of much interest to people who don't follow northen politics.

The Alliance party winning their first ever seat is quite historic. If the north is to advance from the state it is in at the moment it needs to start moving away from sectarian politics.

Also of interest is the fact that the nationalist/republican vote exceeded that of the unionist vote for the first time.

Extra bonus point I read on an Irish blog: UKIP get 917,000 votes and no seats. DUP get 168,000 votes and 8 seats.
